About Akki’s Cupcakery & Tea
Hi, I am Akeila Tejwani, a Freshman at the University of Texas at Austin. I started Akki’s Cupcakery and Tea when I was 15 years old. I am very passionate about Cakes, Cupcakes, and Working with Kids! wanted to come up with healthy and dietary friendly options for people to enjoy in their baked goods. Lots of people are not able to enjoy all the desserts due to the use of unhealthy ingredients that are not recommended for overall health and fitness incorporated in baked products at grocery stores or ingredients that do not fit their needs.
I came up with the idea of making baked goods for people with dietary restrictions such as Vegan, Keto, Gluten-Free, Paleo, and combinations of them. We also use healthier organic ingredients without losing the flavor in our baked goods. Everything is made fresh to order to guarantee the best tasting products for our customers. We also wanted to make ordering easier and more efficient. Our website is a completely e-commerce based website featuring our wide variety of flavors offered in cakes and cupcakes. We also have a mobile app, and are one of the first home bakeries in Texas to start one. Furthermore, we share profits with kids charities in our community. In the first year of being in business, we generated $51,000 in revenue and donated $3,000 to the charities including: SJRC (St. Jude’s Ranch for Children), The Ferrari Kid, Camp Camp, HeartGift Foundation, and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
