I grew up in the walls of small businesses and was raised by a community that supported them. I learned very quickly that entrepreneurship is more than just building a business. It’s creating potential. driving your community forward, and creating a legacy that outlives you.
One of my proudest moments was when I told our first client that we secured two university partnerships, both of which would provide volunteers and interns for years to come. She’s a single mother with her own business, career, and community to take care of. For once, she knew someone was taking care of her. And that’s what our mission is all about.
How Did You Come Up With The Idea For Your Business?
Paper Suns & Co was born thirty-thousand feet above the Atlantic. I’d been coming off a sixty-hour week in the emergency room and for the first time in months, in the quiet plane ride home, I had a chance to read. I spent most of the flight reading the Book Thief–a stunningly written book that emphasizes the importance of storytelling in a way I didn’t think was possible. I fell in love with stories all over again. At this time, I’d been in a media internship where I got to interview the CEO of a state–wide crisis center and multiple healthcare startup founders. I knew from experience that beyond the market statistics and equity shares, there were some amazing stories to tell. So I called up my best friends and we got to work.
