About Mentors with Meaning
Mentors with Meaning provides low-income students with the tools they need to get to the college of their dreams. From FAFSA support, to mentorship, to essay writing workshops – we give small-town students the chance to reach their educational goals. The company was first designed to assist students in Victoria Texas, where I am from.
Being a lower income student and having parents that are immigrants it was very difficult to navigate through the process especially when there is no one there helping you through it. Over 50 percent of students in my home town are lower income or first generation. There is no college counselor and no one to help students through what can be a very difficult process. I want to help students realize that they are more than their socioeconomic status or background and that someone believes in them.
