In high school engineering classes, I was exposed to a wide range of concepts, from basic principles to advanced technologies. Hands-on projects and challenges encouraged me to think critically, experiment, and iterate solutions—an essential mindset for entrepreneurship. Whether it was designing a simple machine or programming a robot, each project fueled my curiosity and instilled in me the belief that I could create something meaningful.
The idea for Hydraid emerged during a brainstorming session for our IoT Health Sensors project, where we were tasked with identifying common issues people face and devising innovative solutions. As a group of college students, we realized that despite our awareness of the importance of hydration, we often struggled to consume an adequate amount of water throughout the day. Additionally, while many of us tracked our steps or physical activity, we rarely monitored our water intake.
This realization sparked a conversation about the significance of hydration for overall health and well-being. We discussed how dehydration can lead to a range of health issues, including fatigue, headaches, and decreased cognitive function. Moreover, we recognized that maintaining proper hydration is particularly crucial for students and professionals who lead busy, active lifestyles.
Inspired by our shared experiences and concerns, we began brainstorming ideas for a solution that would address the challenge of tracking and promoting hydration. We envisioned a smart, IoT-enabled device that could seamlessly integrate into daily life, providing real-time feedback and reminders to encourage consistent water consumption-thus Hydraid was created.
