“Since graduating from UT in 2016, life has led me down many different paths – the least of which I expected to be entrepreneurship. I am so thrilled to be a part of KS WELI because trying to build a business as a young woman can be extremely daunting and isolating at times, and this community is continuously allowing me to meet & collaborate with like-minded individuals, tap into resources I’d never considered I’d have access to, and has provided a safe & exciting space to grow as an individual!”
About the FoundHER(s)
I had originally wanted to start an online boutique of sorts before stumbling across the idea for swimwear. I had no intention of actually designing – I had planned on doing wholesale buying since I have zero background in anything design related. But in my search for product, I somehow came across a recycled swim fabric that used regenerated consumer plastics and, based on my love for anything water-related (the lifestyle, bikinis, beachwear, destinations, etc.) and the sustainability aspect, it piqued my interest in working with it. From there on out I decided to take a swing at teaching myself design and building a super fun aspirational brand!
About the Company
Dubbed ‘A Bikini Brand That Gives a Damn’, House of ZZ is a sustainable swimwear brand prioritizing the use of recycled fabrics (made from pre & post-consumer plastic waste), as well as fair-trade and ethical manufacturing. Combining luxe quality with carefree wearability, each piece is designed to compliment the female form, and aims to make the wearer feel like her most confident self.
