FoundHER – Project Knowledge is Power

“Two years ago, my team and I heard about the Rohingya refugee crisis and felt compelled to address a key issue faced by this population and so many others around the world: lack of health information access. Without the support of mentors at UT Austin, the LBJ School, and the WEL institute, it would have been near impossible to reach the stage we are at now, having begun the process of enacting measurable impact in this highly vulnerable population. Thank you to the incredible people at these institutes for the resources, encouragement, and guidance needed to carry this and future projects forward!”

Introducing Project Knowledge is Power, an e-learning provider, promoting health empowerment among underserved populations throughout the world.

Project Knowledge is Power (PKIP) is a video-based health education startup organization with the mission of promoting health empowerment among underserved populations throughout the world. Our pilot program involves the creation and distribution of animated health videos for the Rohingya refugees, a population currently residing in the world’s largest refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, in order to provide accessible and practical health education on high-risk medical issues faced by the population. Our pilot initiative’s ultimate goal is to decrease the mortality burden of preventable disease in the population and study the effectiveness and long-term impact of human-centered design in video-based health education for this protracted refugee situation.
