I was inspired to become an entrepreneur to help underserved communities. I have always been passionate about helping other through volunteering and providing medical care to those in need. I learned that I could continue to help others through social entrepreneurship, specifically to help solve issues within the healthcare system, and was inspired to become an entrepreneur.
The proudest moment I’ve had so far is presenting Chromatica to professors. They were extremely excited about the idea and told me how much Chromatica would help them and help their students. I was very proud to know that Chromatica truly had the power to make a difference in the lives of professors and students.
How Did You Come Up With The Idea For Your Business?
I came up with Chromatica after seeing posts on Instagram highlighting the underrepresentation of skin of color in medical textbooks. I knew I wanted to work to solve this issue, so I started talking to dermatology professors and medical students to learn why they think skin of color is underrepresented. Professors told me that it is hard to find images of skin of color online and doing so is extremely time consuming. After brainstorming with my peers, I created Chromatica to make finding images of diverse skin tones much easier for professors.

Industry
Mission
Chromatica’s mission is to make images depicting skin conditions on skin of color more accessible for dermatology professors, dermatology residents, and medical students, so providers receive more comprehensive training on how to diagnose skin of color. This will drastically improve the standard of care provided to patients of color and improve health outcomes for patients of color.
