From a young age, I’ve always felt the pull toward entrepreneurship as a way to create something uniquely mine. I knew I didn’t want to live with regrets, asking myself “What if?”—I only have one life to live, and I want to spend it pursuing my passions. For me, food has been a lifelong love, starting at age five when I made my first pizza by using dumpling skin, ketchup, and cheese.
I was amazed at how simple ingredients could create something delicious (for a 5 yr old), and that feeling of endless possibilities has stayed with me. Food has the power to bring joy, even in tough times, and it connects people in a way that transcends language and culture. Umami Joy was born from my desire to share that magic and my cultural heritage with the world, and every day in the kitchen feels like an opportunity to make someone’s day a little brighter.
